We left Visalia, CA this morning and had a hard time deciding what to do next. We could either go east to Universal Studios or go west towards Las Vegas. After much thought, we ended up doing neither and decided to head towards home. We remembered that we wanted to stop in some towns on the way home and couldn’t on the way west because we had to be at the Grand Canyon at a certain time. This time I hope we stop in Oklahoma City to see the memorial and then Amarillo, TX to eat at this famous steak restaurant, and then Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas.
So, we get in the car and head east across the Mojave Desert and the outside temperature got up to 117 degrees. We stopped in Boron, CA for lunch and it was so hot that it took your breath away. It was so hot that we didn’t even want to stop anywhere or do anything so we ended up in Flagstaff, AZ for the night. I hope tomorrow is cooler.

What an exciting itinerary! Sounds as if you have plenty of freedom to do whatever your heart desires...fantastic!
Glad to hear you guys are coming to Hot Springs, Ark. My hubby and I visited here only one day six years ago before deciding to move here permanently three months later.
Named as the No. 1 place in America to retire by geographer Warren Bland , Hot Springs was confirmed as a top retirement destination on a recent Today Show segment by realtor Barbara Corcoran.
I gotta admit, Hot Springs is a pretty cool place to live, even for those of us who aren't yet retired.

I have so enjoyed catching up with your journey. Love the photos and hearing about it all. I could not believe that woman who put her children in front of the car. I feel the same way you do. She really is setting a bad example for the kids and then she'll be wondering what happened when they turn out bad.
As for my blogging, I'm not. Blogger has a scheduling feature now, so I did them all up before we left and scheduled them for each day until the end of this week. :)
