My World and Welcome to It!

These are my thoughts and opinions about life in general. I also get daily prompts from DSP which inspire me to write. If I throw in some scrapbook pages I've done, photos I've taken, and stories about me, you will have an idea about my loony life!

My Best Quality

Blog Prompt: List the qualities you prize in yourself. Is there one quality that you consider essential to your sense of your self?

This is really hard because I was brought up not to brag about yourself but to look for the good qualities in others. I would guess that I'm honest, loyal, caring, hard working, and I never give up (which could be bad when I'm arguing with my hubby! lol). I believe never giving up has been essential to who I am today. So many times growing up I felt the odds were against me and I refused to give up. My peers felt I was different, ridiculed me, and refused to do anything with me (I was the only Chinese girl in the school so I learned to be an avid reader). My parents didn't want me to go away to college and refused to give me a dime (I paid for it all myself and made straight As). My professor, in the middle of my student teaching, told me to get out of teaching because I would never be a good teacher (I was named Teacher of the Year for my school and top 10 in the district of 5000 teachers). Friends and family told me I was marrying the wrong guy and it would never last (We are celebrating our 25 anniversary this June).

I understand about being by yourself at school - I found it hard to make friends and still do 40 years later. I also am an avid reader. I so admire you for provinf others wrong.

You have so much to be proud of - keep up that persistency. And congratulations on your upcoming silver wedding anniversary.

You go girl! Persistence has its place in the world, doesn't it? And I think the best part of it is when you can say (even if it's only thoughts in your mind), "I told you so!"
